{"id":1483,"date":"2016-01-16T15:13:44","date_gmt":"2016-01-16T20:13:44","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/theeiupac.wpengine.com\/?page_id=1483"},"modified":"2024-04-23T07:22:50","modified_gmt":"2024-04-23T11:22:50","slug":"council","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/iupac.org\/who-we-are\/organizational-guidelines\/council\/","title":{"rendered":"Council"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Council is the primary IUPAC governing body to which the <a href=\"https:\/\/iupac.org\/body\/910\/\">Science Board<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/iupac.org\/body\/920\/\">Executive Board<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/iupac.org\/who-we-are\/committees\">Standing Committees<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/iupac.org\/who-we-are\/divisions\">Divisions<\/a>, Commissions, and all other IUPAC bodies are responsible. Council is composed of \u00a0Delegations from the <a href=\"https:\/\/iupac.org\/home\/national-adhering-organizations\">National Adhering Organizations<\/a>\u00a0(NAOs) and each NAO appoints its Delegates for every Council meeting. <a href=\"https:\/\/iupac.org\/home\/associated-national-organizations\">Associate National Adhering Organization<\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/iupac.org\/home\/associated-national-organizations\">s<\/a>\u00a0may attend Council meetings as Observers, but have no voting rights. Each NAO Delegation is assigned a specific number of votes according to principles decided by the Council.
